Luxor or Ballys?

My husband and I off to Vegas for 4 days in August. Ballys and Luxor are both in our price range but we can't decide which one! We are not big gamblers so we're not bothered about which one has the best casino or anything. We like comfortable clean rooms and accessabilty to good attractions/nightlife. We are early 30's and looking to have a fun time. Don't want a hotel crowded with kids.. Help?

My choice would be Bally's if for no other reason it is in a better location in my opinion. From Bally's most of the more popular casino's are within an easy walk. On our last trip we stayed at the Aladdin which is fairly close to Bally's and we loved the location.

Another vote for Bally's. Even when all other LV hotels were catering to kids, Bally's didn't buy into it. It also is more centrally located, adjacent to Paris and close to Aladdin, both with fun shopping areas. Next door, the Barbary Coast has more relaxed, low key gambling.

The pool at Bally's is nothing special, but since you're going in August, you probably won't be spending much time outdoors in the daylight hours anyhow.

I recently stayed at Bally's after staying at several other strip properties on past trips (although never the Luxor).

I agree with the previous posters that Ballys is the way to go. Big rooms and I thought the pool was very nice although a good distance from the elevators.

It's all about location and Bally's wins that discussion hands down! The new monorail is supposed to open this week and Bally's has a stop on that, making moving around very easy.

I noticed a good number of kids at Luxor this summer (they have a large size arcade area) but very few at Bally's. If you like the South end of the strip, check out the Monte Carlo.

In my two trips to Vegas I have stayed once at each hotel. I think for a 4-day visit (first-time?) Bally's probably edges it but only just.

I think most people have already commented on the location of Bally's being a big plus in its favour which I agree with.

Neither place should be overrun with kids and both seem to attract a mid-range crowd.

There is no theme at Bally's and it is slightly more staid than the Luxor. Having said that the rooms in Bally's are large (if a bit plain) and the location really can't be beaten. The Luxor is a bit more fun but you will not be spending lots of time in any one hotel if you are exploring lots in Vegas.

Another vote for Bally's. Great location, big rooms. They also have a package that includes a coupon book that is worthwhile and I love the shows and martinis in their lounge.

Stayed at the Luxor this year for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We were in a Tower Room and it was comfortable and clean, having a spacious bathroom with both stall shower and soaking tub. Their high end restaurant Isis was extremely nice - if you go, get the spinach salad made at your table. The Luxor basement-level buffet was a good value too.

A plus about the Luxor location is that you can enjoy Mandalay Bay's nightlife. The crowd was late 20's, early 30's at both places and everyone was having a good time.
