Luxor, a suitable sub for a Westin?
I have/had a priceline reservation for the new Westin Causarina LV for late Sept. Bid $60, plus tax and P/L fee, i have about $71 committed. Was very much looking forward to a brand new Westin with the Heavenly Bed and Bath etc.
Now the Westin has moved their opening date into October and priceline has switched me to Luxor. Does this sound like a good thing? I believe I can get a refund and then book someplace else on my own, but I do want to stay "close" to the airport as this is the last night of our stay in LV and we leave the next AM at 7:15 from LAS. Any thoughts? |
The Westin Casuarina is actually NOT a brand-new hotel. It is a completely gutted and redone OLD hotel.
Personally, I'd be just fine with the Luxor. It's also a little closer to the airport. |
Luxor is not near the airport but we've stayed there and recommend it. Elevators move diagonally! Also there's an interesting reproduction of King Tut's tomb in same scale. Impressive open atrium inside the building. Eateries not bad.

It depends on your definition of "near the airport", but I couldn't have driven more than 5 minutes to get from the Luxor to the airport. It was so close, I was worried about noise, but it wasn't an issue. Mike Honeycutt |
Contrary to FMac's reply, the Luxor is almost right across the street from the airport! The only other hotels farther south on the Strip is Excalibur & Mandalay Bay on the west side of the Strip, and Tropicana on the east side. I've stayed at Luxor & it's a nice place. Our room overlooked the strip, and the airport was right there. It takes some doing to get to the airport, but the signs are pretty clear. The $71 price isn't too bad-we paid 90.

another confirmation - luxor is indeed close to the airport. $70 is a pretty good price. think you'll like it.
