lunch in Waimea or Hawi?

Which would you recommend for lunch on a Saturday in May - looking for casual, fun atmosphere, and good food - Merriman's or Bamboo?

We had a good lunch at Daniel Thiebaut's in Waimea. Good mai-tais and good ahi.

Bamboo was really good. I enjoyed the shopping in Hawi, too. :-)

You can't go wrong at either! I love both areas and places. Lotta help, huh? ;;)

love the town of Hawi: we bought a piece of land there when we were on the Big Island in August. we were coming from Waimea and made a "wrong turn"!!
anyway, we didn't eat in either place, but Bamboo looked good, both menu and atmosphere. great coffee place across the street, can't remember the name...

stellaluna -

I had better be careful! That was a costly wrong turn you made, LOL. A piece of Hawaii beats lunch every time...

I think we'll try Bamboo as it looks like a great combination of atmosphere and food. And I'll be sure to report back.
