Lunch in NYC

Can anyone suggest a restaurant for lunch in the vicinity of Rockefeller Center/Radio City Music Hall? We are open to most all suggestions. Any help appreciated!!!

Nicole's - 10 E 60th St.
My DIL is the Brit exec chef - mention Annie's name and get a glass of Pinot Noir.

In Rock Center, go to either Sea Grill - or the Rock Center Cafe. Or, if you want something very basic - but eccentric Ellens Diner.

The restaurants nytraveler mentioned overlook the ice rink, making it a relaxing and entertaining way to spend the time, in addition to the meal.

Thanks to all for the recommendations. We will probably go with one of the restaurants at the ice rink. Someone suggested a restaurant to me that is located in the LA Spa/Gym at Rock. Cen. Do you know of this place?

It's called Pulse. Pan Asian.

I've had very good lunches at Rock Center Cafe but it is very expensive. You could easily spend $50 pp for lunch.

Another choice which I don't see recommended very often but is one of my very favorite NYC institutions is
the '21 Club'.

Come to think of it, I never usually see any tourists at '21 Club' at lunch. Usually men wearing suits. Well, I guess tourists could walk around Manhattan wearing suits.

Sea Grill is quite good and they have/had several very "intelligent" Alsatian wines on their list.

Check out MoMa. Museum of Modern art. I forget when they open but then again you didn't say when.

Go Travel, the reason you only see men in suits at 21 Club is that jacket and tie are required for lunch AND dinner there -- or at least they still were last year. One thing to note there is the prices are really high, but if you ask for the special lunch menu you get a separate menu with choice of three appetizers, three entrees, and three desserts for a fixed price -- which just a year or two ago was $21, but I think it has been posted that it has gone up considerably since then.

A real bargain and neat place is the rather upscale looking Indian restaurant called Utsav which is entered from 46th Street and is between 6th and 7th Avenues. They do a wonderful buffet lunch which is about $13.95.

The prix fixe lunch at 21 is now listed in Zagat as $32.

Another nice option would be Aquavit on west 54th st. Their prix fixe is $30 (www.aquavit.org)

nytraveler, good suggestion. We enjoyed Ellens Stardust Diner too. Although it's touristy and the food was just average, the singing waiters put us all in the Broadway 'mood'.

Rue 57 on 57/6th is a few blocks away from RC but worth the walk.
