CAPH, happy to hear you had a good visit and a good lunch. Good luck with the other visits.

Thanks, Sandy and esm! :)

The Wisconsin visits went very well. And our son definitely feels that UW-Madison is his first choice. But he still plans to apply to U of I. And we still have another round of visits coming up on the way to and from taking our daughter back to school in Massachusetts! Plus he still wants to check out Missou because of their strong journalism school!

It's been fun though. Heck, if it weren't for these college trips (and taking our daughter back, of course) our only trips this summer would probably have been to my MIL's in southern Illinois!

BTW, Sandy, she lives in Clinton County. I have a feeling you may be sort of in that area. My husband and I both grew up in Breese.

How expensive is Timpone's? We are probably going to be dropping our son off the weekend of our anniversary & would like to find a nice restaurant but not terrible expensive, within $20-25 per entree?

I haven't been there in a few years, and I generally went for lunch, but I'd be surprised if many of the dinner entrees are more expensive than that. The website doesn't show prices, but it does say there's a $21 three-course prix fixe dinner. I guess you could call and ask them for the a la carte price range. Happy anniversary!

Just thought I'd update this thread with a few notes from our short visit last weekend. We had a nice dinner at Timpone's, hanger steak over a caesar salad with truffle oil, and a lovely pasta dish w/ cream sauce. We had breakfast at a comfy warm spot called the Courier Cafe. We also stopped at a fabulous wine shop called Corkscrew, not large, but just a wonderful selection. We didn't have a chance to see much of the town, so can't comment on it. annieladd
