Lunch/Brunch in Richmond

We're going to take our daughter and her friends from college out to lunch/brunch this weekend. They're desperate to eat off campus! Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Hi,
A wonderful place for brunch-the best in the city- is at the Jefferson Hotel downtown. The Hefferson is a 5 star hotel, absolutely beautiful. I don't know what your price range is for the brunch and if needed I could offer a couple of other less expensive options, but they wouldn't be the same type of experience. Let me know and I will send more info if needed. Hope this helps!
Have fun!

The Jefferson sounds like a wonderful idea; I hear it is beautiful. But we'll have a large table full of college girls, so maybe something not as grand (and pricey) would be in order. I'd love to hear your other suggestions. Thanks.

You didn't mention where your daughter goes to school, so I'm make two assumptions:
1.she goes to VCU.....you might try Strawberry Street Cafe which is on Strawberry Street(duh)and close to Shields Ave. In the Fan, west of VCU.
2.she goes to Universtity of Richmond....in which case you might try Joe's Inn which is located on Buford Rd.in Bon Air west of the U of R campus and across the Huguenot Bridge.
Both are pretty informal with pretty good food. Neither will bankrupt you....

Great suggestions sinehat. Strawberry St. Cafe is such a neat place- has a lot of ambience! Just a bit further down Hugenot Rd. from Joe's is River City Diner. It has a 50's theme and is fun, too. If you want to get out a bit further, in Brandermill on Rt. 360 (closer to UR than VCU, but still doable) is Sunday's restaurant. It overlooks the Swift Creek reservoir and is a really pretty place to eat on a nice day. These all would be good choices (and much less expensive- especially with all of those girls!)

She's at UR and I thank you for your help. She'll be thrilled.

Thanks for the tips. We had brunch at Strawberry Street. Perfect atmosphere. We had dinner at Bottega Bistro - really quite lovely. A good time was had by all.

jgmc- glad you had a nice time! From this UR grad ('83)I can't imagine your daughter not wanting to stay on campus and eat at the dining hall :) She is fortunate, though. In my day we had our dining in North Hall or (gasp) could walk over to the "boys" side and eat at the refectory aka the "ratfectory" ! Great school!
