Lucky Peach Magazine - The Travel Edition
I've been a subscriber of this eclectic food magazine from its inception. I love the wide variety of people who contribute from the famous and infamous and not so famous chefs, to the art department. It's just a great collaborative labor of love.
Well this month is The Travel Issue. I'm only about 20 pages in and this is a winner. Travel tips from a wide group of people. Not sure if you should travel with your young child? They've got that covered. Anthony Bourdain's favorite travel movies? Eating in Hawaii - some really great writing. 20 pages in and it is already a home run1 Do yourselves a favor and check it out. Should be at your local Barnes and Noble. http://lky.ph/about http://lky.ph L_G |
shamelessly topping in case anyone is interested. it really is a a magazine genre of its own.

Ok one last time, After reading the first 20 pages, I then read a trip report from North Korea in the next 5 pages.
I'd really hoped that in the US Board someone also enjoys this magazine. I figured better to post hear then in the Lounge that is sequestered. |
I really think this thread fits better in the Lounge . . .
|
I would agree in the past, but since the lounge has become cloistered and a legacy and forbidden to the general membership..... well I thought this would be the better place. Alas the US boards are rather quiet.

This is the first time that I've run across this thread, but then I'm an erratic in-and-out (not the burger) on Fodors.
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into this. Am very interested as I'm deluged with food and wine magazine solicitations and was just considering subscribing to yet another. This sounds different enough from the others to be worth a try. Thanks for the tip, LG! |

I would lend you my first edition issue, but it is selling for about $400 on the internet! The Ramen issue. It is a fantastic introduction to their vision. Some editions have their plusses and minuses. I especially enjoyed the Chinatown issue. David Chang is a very interesting person, and the people who contribute to this rag do it for their passion and not for banking a paycheck, which in and of itself is refreshing. I was pleased to see the latest edition/issue showcased at a barnes and noble |
I found it for $100 on Amazon :-)
Thanks for posting, LG, I just ordered the Travel issue. A subscription is $28 for 4 issues, while the single latest issue is $7.50 on Amazon, so I decided not to commit to a full year just yet. Yes, this is probably better for the Lounge, cloistered though it may be. |
I must say, I enjoyed the Crete article as well. And that's just a third of the way thru.
