LSU Tigers beat Duke!!!

Go LSU@@##! Great job...Elite Eight and then Final Four here you come!

seetheworld Mar 23rd, 2006 05:59 PM

Hey mah, where have you been!?

I have to check my sheet, or whatever that thing is called. :D

mah1980 Mar 23rd, 2006 06:08 PM

I've been working 55 hours a week. Oh the life of a lowly associate!

You need to check your bracket! LSU winning screwed up a lot of people's bracket.

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Intrepid1 Mar 24th, 2006 12:33 AM

I hope Billy Packer was watching.

marymg Mar 24th, 2006 03:25 AM

I work at Duke Medical Center and I have despised the basketball team for years. They are arrogant and so is the coach. I see him walking around with his nose stuck up!! Anybody but Duke is what I say.

Intrepid1 Mar 24th, 2006 03:41 AM

Actually, Coach K was somewhat gracious in defeat although he couldn't quite get the words, "They deserved to win" out of his mouth when describing the better game played by LSU...but the score tells us, and everyone else, everything which really counts.

bobrad Mar 24th, 2006 03:47 AM

UConn beat LSU once this year and will do it again , If LSU should luck out and win another game !!!

divingaggie Mar 24th, 2006 03:54 AM

Well, I'm (obviously) an Aggie fan, and losing to LSU that closely sucked. But seeing that the Tigers beat Duke made me feel better. Now I don't know who to cheer for--LSU or Texas? And did you see that Gonzaga lost? I really like Morrison, so I was sad to see them lose.

bonniebroad Mar 24th, 2006 04:21 AM

Boston College (ACC) will take it all! :-d

karens Mar 24th, 2006 04:24 AM

My son's bracket was #1, we shall see where he is now.

His brackets usually do well (he came in 3rd last last), but currently has a "C" in math (down from an A- 1st qtr). Sigh.

Intrepid1 Mar 24th, 2006 04:57 AM

UCONN barely got past Kentucky so they had better be playing better than they were in that particular game.

GeorgeW Mar 24th, 2006 05:21 AM

How many of LSU's players actually belong in college? Or Duke's? College basketball is a fraud and the colleges shame themselves by pretending that the players are "student athletes."

DownSouth Mar 24th, 2006 05:25 AM

We're so very proud of our Tigers!!! Glen Davis and Garrett Temple graduated from my children's high school and were so kind to my little boy when he was in 2nd grade. I see Glen a lot around Baton Rouge and he always takes time to speak to me with beautiful manners, I might add! John Brady and Butch Pierre have done a great job with these boys. They are a fantastic team and deserve to win!

sfamylou Mar 24th, 2006 05:59 AM

Personally, my bracket looks better than ever after yesterday, as I have LSU and UCLA in the Final Four. Connecticut can win it all. I better go fly my UConn flag. My husband and I had an argument about Morrison crying. I thought he should have been a better sport but my husband felt they shouldn't have shown it on TV. Either way, I feel bad for the kid but really, do you lie on the floor like that?

GoTravel Mar 24th, 2006 07:39 AM

GeorgeW, Duke's basketball team has one of the highest GPAs in college basketball and has the highest percentage of graduating athletes than any other univerisity.

That said, I've got LSU picked to go all the way!

Since my Gamecocks are in the NIT (hope they win again)I'm pulling for the SEC.

Boston College in the ACC is weird.

charsuzan Mar 24th, 2006 07:44 AM

Actually, U Conn did not play badly against KY. The CATS just played like they are capable of playing but have not done most of the season.
Was so happy to see DUKE lose.

GO SEC!

bonniebroad Mar 24th, 2006 07:47 AM

Go_Travel, isn't it weird ... BC in the ACC??? I'm not used to it yet! I don't feel like the ACC, as I think of it, has anybody left. :-(

GeorgeW, you're way off base about Duke's student athletes, and UNC's, for sure! Dean Smith's philosophy was that if they didn't study and make the grades, they didn't play. Roy Williams is the same!

lvk Mar 24th, 2006 07:53 AM

Did anyone see the end of the UCLA - Gonzaga game last night? Talk about March Madness!

GoTravel Mar 24th, 2006 08:03 AM

Thank you Bonnie! I thought I was alone in that.

Thank goodness BC didn't win the ACC tourney. How embarrassing would that have been?

Where was Duke last night BTW?:)

bonniebroad Mar 24th, 2006 08:16 AM

GoT, I am convinced that aliens invaded the bodies of the Duke players; we only *thought* that was the Blue Devils last night!!! =-o Really, I couldn't believe it .... I also thought that the refs let that game become a free-for-all at times, and the bigger players from LSU got away with some stuff .. but I'm probably wrong there. :-(

mah1980 Mar 24th, 2006 12:27 PM

Yes, I think Duke actually got more of the ref's favortism as they usually do in their games. Duke shoots 20% more free throws a game then any other team in college basketball. They always have the home field advantage.

I think LSU simply shut down Riddick and therefore the Duke offense. When you rely so much on one player for your offense, you live and die based on that player's performance.

Temple guarded Riddick perfectly and supports the adage that offense wins games but defense wins championships!

Now the challenge for LSU is Texas, which looks real tough and physical.

Downsouth:

Where did your kids go to school?

Glen Davis is always so well spoken and humorous in post-game interviews. He really helps counter some of the other negative images for young kids. I know that he will do so well in life and basketball as he seems to have a good head on his shoulders (he has a 3.2 GPA). He reminds me of another Tiger, Shaq!

DownSouth Mar 24th, 2006 01:22 PM

Mah1980,

My children attend the LSU Lab School/University High School on the LSU campus so when Glen and Garrett graduated from our high school, they just walked right across the street!

There was a great article in the Baton Rouge paper this week about how close Glenn, Garrett, Tyrus Thomas and Tasmin Mitchell are. They grew up together as kids playing basketball together or against each other since the age of 4. They are all roommates and encourage each other to go to class and be the best that they can be. Looks like it's paying off!

mah1980 Mar 24th, 2006 01:33 PM

I remember hearing that Davis went to U-High. I went to law school at LSU and a lot of my law professors' children went to school across the street at U-High. It's an excellent school.

I am glad that the Tigers basketball team are finally giving Louisiana residents some good p.r. for the state.

DownSouth Mar 24th, 2006 03:15 PM

Amen! And don't forget about the LSU Women's Basketball team, lead by Pokey Chapman. They're having a fantastic year as well.
