Low-rise on Waikiki?

We are looking for a 3 or 4 star, lower-rise hotel on Waikiki. Is that an oxymoron? We can can only seem to find high-rises in that catagory; the two low-rise buidings that I found, Hawaianna and Breakers, are not rated very highly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian, oldest hotel on the beach, only two stories. It is the pink one you sometimes see on shots on the beach! Very nice, not cheap. Good luck.

The Shearton Moana Surfrider is only 3 stories high (if you stay in the historical Banyan Wing). The rooms are small, more European feel, but very comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and the Banyan courtyard and beach access are awesome. Check them out on the Starwood (sheraton) website. We stayed there in January and the location right on Waikiki can't be beat.

At the Diamond Head end of Waikiki is the very cozy New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel:

Outrigger Reef or the tiny hotel associated with it across the street.
