Low Blackjack Minimums

We are going to Las Vegas next momnth and staying at the Venetian. I have heard that the Blackjack minimums are very high there so we were thinking of gambling elsewhere. Any suggestions of some low limit tables? Thanks!

Go downtown, you can gamble there cheap. They even have 25 cent roulette. The high name casinos are all high.

On the strip, the smaller and older casinos often have low limit blackjack - Sahara, Westward Ho, Slots-O-Fun, Casino Royale, Imperial Palace, Barbary Coast, O'Sheas, Holiday Inn Boardwalk. These places always have $5 tables, frequently $2 or $3 tables; Sahara used to have $1 tables, don't know if that is still true.

Depending on the day of the week and the time of day, sometimes you can get $5 at the big name places, but you'll almost never see them go lower than that, and you won't always even see the $5. (I did once gamble at a $5 at the Venetian, but that was on a weekday morning a few years ago.)

Oh, and the other poster is right - downtown is great for cheap blackjack. Plus the casinos are so close downtown, it's fun to keep moving on to the next one if you're not lucky at one place.

Be careful about that $1 blackjack table at the Sahara. It's some odd version of 21 and doesn't pay 2/1 for blackjack. It's also dealt around 90 hands per minute, so it is FAST!

My favorite strip casino for a good low-limit game is Imperial Palace. They have good rules, and pay 2/1 on blackjacks. They also have non-smoking tables, which I wish other casinos would catch on to...

I went to vegas for the first time last August w/ some college friends...

I agree on Imperial Palace. We stayed at Treasure Island and IP was close by, right across the street, and they have awesome 3 dollar tables that only go up to 5 after like 5 or 6 p.m. We played there mostly, but if you go to Monte Carlo they have 5 dollar tables before 5 p.m. or so, and if you stay sitting at them after they change to 10 or 15 you still get to play for 5 dollars.

If you go late a.m./early afternoon, The Palms has $5 blackjack. It switches to minimum $10 in the middle of the afternoon...but if you're already playing when they raise the minimum, they'll still let you buy in at $5 a hand. Very nice dealers!
