Los Angeles- Four into Three Doesn't Go
I wil have three complete days in Los Angeles and part of the day before, depending on when I arrive from Santa Barbara. It will be Saturday through Monday and on Tuesday I fly out around noon, which pretty much limits what I do that day.
I'll be staying in Hollywood and will have a rental car. The four things I most want to do are Disneyland, Universal Studios, Getty Center and Warner Brothers Studio tour. I originally planned to do Disney one day, Universal on another and Getty after finishing the Warner brothers tour. Of course I now realise that Warner Bros tour doesn't run on a weekend and the getty is closed Mondays. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fit this in? Is it worth going to Universal for only part of the day and then onto getty -or vice versa? I'm hoping Disneyland won't be too crowded in October - originally I had that penciled in for the Monday. Any extra time I will probably do one of those movie star homes tours etc. Other suggestions? I'm not inot shopping or the beach. Thanks everyone for your great input. |
Have you been to Disney World? If so, I'd skip Disneyland - and that will be three into three.

No, first trip to the US. It sounds silly but Disneyland is high on my must do list, mainly cos I wanted to go since I was a kid and the very concept was just so impossible to contemplate. So even though its been more than a few years since then, still want to cross it off my list. I'm afraid a a bit of a "Been there, done that, got the Tshirt" kind of traveller.

You could do the Warner Bros. VIP tour (only 2 hours in length) and Universal on Monday. Just book the 1st tour on Monday morning at WB and you can spend the rest of the day and evening at Universal. They are pretty close to each other. It's lots of studio touring for one day, but if you really need to cross them both off your list....
Getty on Saturday upon your arrival from SB, and Disney on Sunday. Have Fun! |
I agree that you should detour to the Getty on Saturday, as you approach Hollywood from SB. The Getty is open until 9pm on Sat, make reservations for dinner in the Restaurant, it is a very memorable place to dine.

The Getty is open until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. You could fit it from late afternoon on.

Hi e,
Disneyland is pretty much crowded all the time. Just go knowing that. Personally, I wouldn't bother with both studio tours. One should be enough. The Getty Center is outstanding. Have a great trip! |
Disneyland shouldn't be too bad on a weekday in October and the weather should be good.
Please try to get there as early as you can in the morning. You will be able to quickly take in the major rides. At about 11:00 the lines will grow longer, but you'll have your "fastpasses" by then and can relax and enjoy the ambience of the park. |
Thanks for the replies. I had figured that doing Warner and Universal on the same day (Monday) was pretty much the best solution. Not sure doing both is overkill but both of the same day possibly is. I can play it by ear. Looks like it has to be Disney on the weekend.
I come in on the Friday and want to avoid the worst traffic - won't rest easy till I've checked in so I don't think I'll do Getty on the way in from SB on the Friday. It's starting to look doable now. Thanks. |
