Los Angeles / Anaheim
I am from Australia and looking to travel with a tour group next year. while visiting Los Angeles the tour group recommends staying at Aneheim Ramada Inn instead of in the city of Los Angeles. Can anyone suggest a reason for this.
Thanks Allan

hi
allan,
I live in this area and the reason I think they are suggesting it is cost. Good hotels in LA are more costly than those about 40 minutes south in Anaheim. If you like nice hotels( tho I know nothing about this particular Ramada) I would beware!
best of luck

What is the purpose of your visit? Anaheim is convenient if you plan on going to amusement parks - Disneyland, California Adventure and Knott's Berry Farm. But if you plan on spending most of your time in the Los Angeles area, I would suggest that you stay there to avoid some of the traffic.

Hi Allan, Welcome to LA.
Well frankly, I just stayed in Anaheim this past weekend (had to, for a wedding, Disneyland hotel BTW..$175.00 per night! Not a lot for your money IMHO) I certainly wouldn't recommend staying there unless you plan to do Disneyland all day everyday, which sounds kind of like the seventh level of hell to me...lol.
The drive to and from all places of interest would be hideous... traffic is a nightmare, granted it was raining this past weekend, but our drive from Hollywood to Anaheim took nearly 3 hours.
Santa Monica, the beaches, Hollywood, Universal City, The museum district, shopping district, 3rd street promenade etc, are all miles and hours away from Anaheim.
And, no offence to the kind people of Anaheim, ......well Anaheim is not very... um esthetically appealing, at least not to me, very industrial, lots of strip malls, garish, pseudo-Disney theme hotels...
I am always sort of sad when out of towners say they are staying near Disneyland... I think some of the bad rap LA gets is because this is the primary exposure of some people.
There are many, IMHO more interesting and beautiful places to stay in Los Angeles.
