Lord Paget,Quality Inn, Williamsburg
Lord Paget,Quality Inn,Williamsburg. Has anyone stayed here? I picked this place because I wanted a fridge/micro. For 6 nights, they gave it to me free. Any comments on the place? We do family style dining etc. Is the outdoor unheated pool going to be warm enough in mid July? I was told the "WAT" Bus (Williamsburg Area Transit)is OK to use as a shuttle. Any suggestions? Thank you

The location of this hotel puts you within easy shot of Busch Gardens/Water Country (myabe 3 miles) as well as Colonial Williamsburg (a mile). It's an older hotel and the architecture and some of the decor are not your pre-fab could-be-anywhere look. Very well maintained and in a pretty wooded and landscaped setting. The rooms I have seen when deposting friends there (I live in Wmburg) were spotless and a bit larger than your average room.
Average temps in July are in the 80s and not infrequently in the 90s (often humid) so the outdoor pool should be a good thing. I believe the local bus network does a great job of servicing the commercial areas of Wmburg but I don't know of many visitors who've used it . For ticket buyers, Colonial Williamsburg operates a bus service around the restored area. Otherwise, Wmbg is a small town and driving distances very short. You can get from one end of town to the other in 10 minutes, 15 in "rush hour." |
There's been a change to the agency that runs the bus over the past year or so. I don't know if things have changed about Sunday - there wasn't service on Sunday before, and service only in the day.
However, for several years (and I don't know if it's to be offered this year) the area was also served by the "R&R Bus", where for something like $1.25 you had unlimited use, 7 days a week, and it ran until something like 11pm, serving most of the hotel/restaurant areas, and the tourist sites. Try http://www.relaxandride.com/ for both services. |
The tourist R&R, the W&M bus system and the city buses were all rolled into the same system. I can't comment on the frequency of the buses. There seem to be quite a few stops near the hotels.
