Intercostal Waterway ?

Has anyone been down the Intercostal Waterway from north to south ? We are thinking of doing it in our 46' boat - any advice ?

I have not, but take a look at the book "An Embarrassment of Mangoes" by Ann Vanderloo. There are some good practical references in there also.

I can offer no experience, however, my wife and I, both age 67, wish to connect with someone who might include us on an intercostal voyage, between the north and south, either direction. We would be delighted to share expenses. If interested or know another, please contact (with message) via Facebook - Jack W Simpson.

Note:cannot do this in 2013, would have to be 2014, late spring or beyond.

It's the Intracostal Waterway. An Intercostal Waterway would span between the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans.

I have two friends who have done it and know a couple of others who have ferried boats down for others.

It's a long way, and no one ever wished it longer than it was. No one was sorry that they had done it, either. It's doing it the other way to get the boat back up north that is the test. But everyone met a lot of nice people.

Lots of people with boats here in South Florida have done it and do it every year.

Here's one link which may help you get started:
