Looking for warm weather

Where is the best place to go in Jan/Feb to find sun and warm weather? Thanks for your ideas.

MelissaHI Jan 29th, 2007 07:43 PM

Hawaii.

showgal Jan 30th, 2007 07:39 AM

Which island and any recommendation as to places for a week or a month? Just general stuff if you could, I can use the internet to take off from that.
We will be going on a cruise to Hawaii shortly and I'd like to look around while we're there for a place to return to.
I wasn't sure but what someone would recommend something closer, but thanks for your help.

_Warmest_ in the contiguous 48 states should be S. East FL.

Most sun would be in a desert area, like Palm Springs.

It maybe sunny in Palm Springs but it could be cold (see forecast): http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USCA0828.html
They even have scattered showers the next two days. Feb can be warm there (80's for highs), but not always.

Use weather.com's vacaction planner:

http://www.weather.com/activities/tr...m=secondarynav

Plug in the temperature you are looking for, and it will tell you where in the U.S. you can find it.

I kinda wanted something more descriptive. I put 70-79 degrees and US and got nothing for January. I added Hawaii and I got a list of about 30 cities. I wanted maybe a few recommendations of places to stay, etc. Thanks for the link though, you just have to know where to go to do the search I think.

In Florida it could be 32 degrees and it could be 86 degrees in February. I've seen both. The sun is strong so if you can get away from the wind on a cool day, it will feel warm. Nightime is a different situation.

How about the Kohala coast on the Big Island? It has the sunniest weather on the BI-almost never rains. Lots of fabulous resorts. Or rent a house at Puako--http://tinyurl.com/3yvnj3.

How about St.John, USVI ?
Check out this website and see if
the house "Aria" is available for your dates-

If St. John appeals to you, there are lots of informative posts over on the
Caribbean forum.

On Hawaii, here's the sunnier/ warmer spots:
Oahu: Waikiki/ Honolulu
Kauai: Poipu Beach
Maui: Kihei/ Wailea
Big Island: Kona and Kohola Coast (already mentioned)

trippinkpj Jan 30th, 2007 11:12 AM

It's Kohala. Sorry.

Swaying_Palms Jan 30th, 2007 01:25 PM

Isn't Ko Olina, where the J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa is, similarly sunny to Honolulu?

showgal Jan 30th, 2007 03:58 PM

Thank you all, this is just what I had hoped for. You're great! I have bookmarked the sites for further investigation.

Florida Keys

trippinkpj Jan 30th, 2007 06:13 PM

Yes, I think Ko Olina would be similar to Honolulu weather wise.

mrwunrfl Jan 30th, 2007 10:33 PM

MelissaHI, you nailed it.

showgal Jan 31st, 2007 05:33 AM

Thanks again, I got some good links and have them bookmarked to refer to.
Melissa your idea of Hawaii is perfect and trippin you provided the places I ended up putting on my favorites. Really good information from you all though. I also looked at St. John but since Hawaii is U.S. I think I feel safer there. Thanks again you were there when I needed you and I appreciate it greatly!
