Looking for things to do in Bar Harbor
I would know to know of some interesting things to see or do between Bangor and Bar Harbor. From restaurants to rocky shores...

We've done that drive a number of times, and frankly, don't remember anything of interest. In your other post you mention rocky beaches, but it's not clear what your purpose is: sunning, walking? You won't find ANY shoreline until you get pretty close to Bar Harbor. Let us know what types of things you would LIKE to do, then we can lead you to the best bet.

Thanks for the reply elberko! And sorry for the vagueness of the post. I'll vacation there in mid June for a week. I will be staying in Bangor but will spend the majority of time around Bar Harbor. I didn't know if there were any points of interest between those two places. I'm very interested in the beaches...preferably where it isn't terribly crowded walking around and picking up cool rocks :) Not into the night life of things but more on the nature/scenic side. Thank you for your time!!

Not knowing the interests of your party, Bar Harbor is home to 'College of the Atlantic' which is really a taxidermy school. They have incredible displays as well as a great children's program.

Bar Harbor area isn't beaches it's more rocky coastline. Sullivan would be a nice stop to wander the shoreline. Hilltop Restaurant in Ellsworth is a good stop for lunch, if they have the French Silk pie it's amazing, the warm Toll House pie is good too.

On the waterfront...going down one of the hills...go over the bridge and there is a fantastic lobster shack.. You pick out soft or hard shell and the size you want and corn, steamers and whatever. THE best Maine lobsters EVER

There is a lobster museum located on the way to Bar Harbor that tells you all about the life of a lobster- how they reproduce, etc. We really enjoyed it.

you should go to schoodic point. its part of acadia but off the beaten track. definetly worth the trip. starting in ellsworth take rte 1 to sullivan and winter harbor. turn left onto rte 186 and follow the signs to schoodic. huge rocks that the sea crashes against. tide coming in is the perfect time to be there. take a picnic as there is no restaurant. {you could eat in winter harbor} enjoy the loop drive. stop at every vista and get out. take bug spray. well in june you will want to apply as part of your morning routine.
