Looking for the tackiest alligator farm in FL
 

Don't ask ne why, but our daughter-in-law has this thing about going to an alligator farm in FL -- you know, with the wrestling and the whole thing. Anyone know of one? The tackier and more touristy, the better.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but there is no such thing as an UNtacky alligator farm, so you can pick whatever one is closest. Where will you be in Florida? Pick up any tourist brochure and you will find listings, usually with discount coupons.

I have not had the honor of witnessing the cheese and tackiness of alligator wrestling etc LOL but I have passed a large Alligator farm in St Augustine.
I seem to remember someone talking about some really tacky ones in So Florida..Have fun :D

and the one in So Florida is the Everglades Alligator Farm which is also billed as the Oldest ..

Alligators aren't tacky. They take business casual to a new level but they certainly aren't tacky.

Seriously, I think I heard somewhere that they were against the law these days. I could be wrong.

Gatorland in Kissimmee/Orlando is my choice for sheer ridiculousness. You get alligator jumping shows, alligator wrestling and other good stuff. "Gator Jumparoo" is one of their "fabulous" shows. Enjoy. http://www.gatorland.com/

I was wondering if Gatorland was still around - we were there about 10 years ago and it is so bad it is good. My favorite was when they string raw chickens across a clothes line and the gators get to jump for chicken.

Cant remember the name...but there's one on the road from Homestead to the Everglades Entrance...near the Robert Fruit Stand.

We didn't go in ...but looked around and had enough tackiness from the outside.

BigRed, I am pretty sure that is the one called the Everglades Alligator Farm.

Used to live right next door to Gatorland (south of Orlando, Kissimmee area on Orange Blossom Trail). Our neighbor did some plumbing work for them -- had to have staff hold back the alligators with poles while he and his partner went into water to do repairs -ugh! Anyway, I personally like the one in St. Augustine (which is just south of Jacksonville). You know, if you were to take a driving trip, you could hit St. Augustine (I-95, east side of state), do Gatorland (I-95 to I-4 toward Orlando), take the Florida Turnpike toward Miami and then to the Everglades, and then go up I-75 (west side) for whatever gets posted here. I was most familiar with the "Gator Jumparoo" at Gatorland in Orlando/Kissimmee, that's where we had a number of kid's birthday parties. But if you're going to do it, well make a road trip out of it.

When my daughter was younger, we took her to Gatorland and she loved it. I did, too! I love all aspects of travel-including "tacky and touristy"!

I haven't been to any Alligator farms but any will probably fill the bill. I loved tacky when I was very little. Buffalo Ranch and Merrimac Caverns were high on my list as child.

Finish off this "alligator adventure" with a trip to Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach. He's the billboard king in Florida. Built a business on billboard advertising and long hours.

BTW, Patrick, I am aware that there is no such thing as an untacky 'gator farm; however, my search is for the tackiest. So, you see, we are talking about a matter of degree here, not absolutes.

Son of BTW: I began boycotting Ron-Jon's when it went from a tacky little surf shop to a sprawling "business."
