Looking for reasonably priced pre-theatre dining in Chicago. Help!
I'll be in Chicago in October to see Wicked. I need some suggestions as to pre-theatre dining that is not too expensive. Good food (italian, french, american) at a reasonable price. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, not too expensive is very subjective. There are literally dozens of restaurants around the Oriental Theatre. A good place to start is www.metromix.com. You can enter a neighborhood (The Loop), price range and cuisine and get a list of suggestions.

We saw Wicked last Wednesday night on our visit to Chicago. We ate dinner at Trattoria Caterina. We all ordered pasta because we figured it would be quick. Excellent & not too expensive. They do not have a liquor license so bring your own if you are inclined or they can call the liquor store for you. Very nice people & a quick (one stop?) subway ride to the Theater.

Ones we have used, all within a block or two:
Trattoria #10- downstairs, quiet, white tablecloth, about $25 a person. Love their butternut squash ravioli and the quiet before the mob at the theatre. 10 N. Dearborn Petterino's- part of Lettuce Entertainment group. Italian Village- 3 different restaurants inside- different with one VERY reasonable and nice atmosphere. My girlfriends love this and I not so much - it's been around since I was a kid. Atwood Cafe in the Hotel Burham See other threads here, using the search feature if these do not please. |
