Looking for Quiet Area to stay in Palm Springs?
 

Hi all,
My husband and I are going to Palm Springs later this year and I wanted to know, if we are looking for a place to stay in a quiet area, to soak up some of that desert tranquility and not street traffic noise, are there different parts of Palm Springs that are noisier and quieter? We heard the Pepper Tree Inn is terrific but I was concerned that it might be too "in the thick of downtown" perhaps? Am I worrying too much over this issue?

The tennis gardens area on the south side of Palm Canyon might be a good candidate. Korakia seems to be pretty quiet, tucked back against the mountains. Or, if your budget can take it, maybe the Willows.

Look into some places in La Quinta.

You could also try Rancho Mirage...upscale and quieter than downtown PS.

We stayed at Chase hotel, on the map it's only 1 block off the major street, but it was so serene, no noise, no traffic, away, really away from everything. But if you need restaurants, shopping - it's all just a minute away.

Thanks all, for the replies! They were really helpful! We saw a condo complex called Deauville, which appears to be close to the Spa Resort Casino. Does anyone know anything good or bad about this complex or know if this is in a "downtown" area that is on the noisier side or closer to the tennis garden area? Thanks again!

The Old Desert Inn unless it isn't upscale enough for you.

My husband and I have stayed at the La Quinta resort several times and it is very quiet and they have lots of small pools all over the property. Most of the time we have had the pool nearly to ourselves. The last time we we there this summer my husband ran into Clint Eastwood in the gym! I figure if it's good enough for Clint it's good enough for me!

The Tennis Club area of old Palm Springs is by far my favorite. (Note: NOT the same as the Racquet Club area).
I've stayed in LaQuinta and Rancho Mirage, but they lack the quiet, historic ambiance of this very special neighborhood that is nestled against the mountains, yet a close walk to town. IMO, the two best places to stay are:

I peeked in at the Peppertree my last visit, and the property looked very nice, also. It was on a busier street, however.

P.S. I also love the look and location of the Chase , which was already recommended. It has been fully booked whenever I've tried to make reservations. Lots of repeaters, so that bodes well.

Wow, these replies are all such a help! No, my husband and I are not the types that need super luxury or anything at all. We like cute and charming but we sure don't need marble tubs and all that so we are not looking into super fancy places. The tennis club area and La Quinta sound terrific and thanks for the suggestions! I will check these places out. If anyone knows of any condo complexes in these areas, I would love to know! Thanks again to everyone!

I agree with Barbara 5353 on the ambiance of the tennis club area in PS. La Quinta Resort actually has some very ingrained old world charm that has not been corporationed out of it, but you should request to stay in one of the original casitas that was built in 1926.
