Looking for NYC restaurant suggestion

Looking for a restaurant suggestion in the vicinity of Grand Central or slightly north or west of it. Ideally not too pricey, but with good food and nice atmosphere. Preferably with a nice bar or near a nice place to meet for drinks. Can be American, Mexican or Italian. Thanks.

The usual question: What is "not too pricey"?

Docks is a good suggestion, on 3rd and 40th st, not far from Grand Central, good seafood, and not too pricey.

"Too pricey" I guess means "too stuffy" and over $25 for a vegetarian entree. Does that help?

Thanks. (I don't quite get the equating of pricy with stuffy, though!) Does your answer mean you're looking for vegetarian meal recommendations? That would certainly narrow the choices.

Check out the restaurants in Grand cetral, Ciprirani's, Michael Jordan's and Metrazur- all in the main hall, cool setting, etc.

If you like seafood, you could also try the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. It isn't inexpensive, but the food is good. If you like steak, you could go to Smith & Wollensky. The main dining room is expensive but the Grille is more reasonable. Good luck!
