Looking for new england family resort in January

Hi- Im looking for suggestions on a good place to go for a few days with small children. We live in Boston and want to get out of the city- less than 4 hr drive so pref in New England (VT, NH preferably). We probably won't ski this trip but want somewhere with an indoor pool for kids and some good places to go out to eat/some stuff to do during the day. Any ideas are appreciated- would go to ski town, but just want enough non- ski things to do and a good nice place to stay that would be good for kids.

Dont know if it's 4 hrs. but you might look at the Sagamore on Lake George-Bolton Landing, NY. OUt on the Cape isnt there a motel called 4 seasons that has an indoor pool?

Not exactly sure of what you mean about stuff to do during the day, and it has been a while since we had to entertain small kids....but the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, ME which is a really nice hotel/resort, has an indoor pool. I see families with small kids when we go there. Freeport's "downtown" is very cute with the old buildings mostly preserved and currently used as outlet stores. There are probably also winter type outdoor activities that are not skiing available, I would imagine.

Thanks for the responses. We are thinking about the Equinox in Manchester, VT. or maybe something in Stowe. Any other VT ideas out there?

Our getaway choice is the Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle NH - right outside Portsmouth. We like it because the rooms are cozy, the indoor pool is great for the kids, the spa is great for me, and the restaurants are very kid friendly yet upscale. Portsmouth is a great town to walk around in, there are events at the Music Hall to check out, in nearby Dover there is the Children's Museum. We used to go to the museum when it was located in Portsmouth and it was wonderful winter fun for the kids. Room rates are pretty reasonable in the winter.
