Looking for Mr. Goodeats in Oahu

We will be in Oahu in 10 days. Finding good restaurants in these posts are helpful, but we are interested in more than just the expensive or trendy spots. I'm sure we'll try some of those.

Does any one have any suggestions for restaurants serving great meals where locals go? Can be casual or very nice or a place with sawdust on the floor. Interesting and views are a plus but the food is the main factor (sounds like I'm talking about a date). Any cuisine will do.

Also if any one has ideas for great breakfast places (NOT brunch). Thanks.

I just topped the best cheap eats on oahu thread. So many choices, new restaurants open all the time. Although I haven't been to Anasia, I hear it's a happening scene. But maybe not just for the food?
k

For fine dining try Bali by the Sea at
the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Alan Wong's restaurant, or Uraku restaurant.
For local food try Sam Choy's Breakfast lunch and Crab,L&L Drive Inn,Kakaako
Kitchen,Todai's restaurant.
Good Luck and enjoy your stay in our island.
Two great places for eats -

1. The Shorebird. It is inside the Outrigger hotel directly on the beach. Massive buffet and cook your own steak, chicken, fish etc.

2. Auntie Pasta . This is a real down to earth spaghetti & Meatballs kind of place. Prices very reasonable. No reservations and everytime I went there was a line.

I'll second the Shorebird although Hadabuck's not kidding: you cook your own meal at a buffet-style grill. So if you mess it up... you get the picture.

The karaoke bar right across the hall from the restaurant was a little loud but sounded like fun.
