Looking for moose

I’m planning a trip out west in late July/ early august and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what state and area I am most likely to see moose. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

You do not have to go to the western US to see moose.
They even have an annual Moose hunting season in Maine.

There are elk in PA so you don't have to come west to see them either.

Go to the Grand Teton NP.
Stop at the Visitor Center in Moose, WY.
Drive on the little gravel Moose-Wilson Road.
Stop for mama moose and baby walking down the middle of the road.

I've been to Maine before and yes I saw a boat load of moose. I was out in MT a few summers ago and loved I was also fortunate enough to see moose. I want to go back out west to a state I haven’t been to before and hopefully see more wild life.

It worked for us - see my profile picture for picture of baby moose and mama

That is soo awesome! I saw a Bull moose grazing in GNP and it was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen ( after all the bear jams ;) )

You can aso see nesting horned owls in the campground there.
We saw just lots of other wildlife in the two weeks from GTNP, Yellowstone and Glacier.

Mountain Dell Golf Course always has moose! Salt Lake City UT, in Parley's Canyon. BEAUTIFUL area.

Homer, Alaska.

We saw 4 or 5 moose on one day. This was in early June.

Maybe that's a little farther west than you wanted to go? :)

A few years ago we were on trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. I had to see a moose. Set out early AM in mist - just knew it was perfect time to see a moose. No moose in Grand Tetons. Later went out with family driving and walking. No moose. Returned to condo for dinner. Gigantic moose about 3 feet from condo munching on landscaping. Closest I have ever been to a moose in my life.

Also so many moose including baby moose - twins, which I guess is rare, at Denali in Alaska.

Here would be my ranking for Moose sighting at the National Parks we have visited and in order

Grand Tetons-saw them on Moose Rd-up very close
Yellowstone-saw them several places in the park
Rocky Mountain-saw them over by Grand Lake-very good chance to see them there saw two and a calf up close
Saw them in Alaksa-they seemed huge but were at a distance.

I haven't been to Glacier NP, but I think odds are decent there.

A place that I really want to see them at is Isle Royale NP.

We see them just about every weekend in northern Colorado. Better than Rocky Mountain National Park is the Poudre Canyon- northwest of Fort Collins, CO. Beautiful drive and the Moose Visitor Center is there as well- they often post where in the area people have seen them that day. We have a cabin and see them all the time- and I am always thrilled at the sight! Twins are not uncommon.
We did see them on a trip to the Grand Tetons as well.
