Karen & Mark,Have you considered Savanah? It is so beautiful and very historic. There is a beautiful Inn there called the President's Inn that would be a beautiful place for your wedding night!! You may even be able to have the ceramony in one of the beatiful parks they have or one of the very old historic churches. Look into it I think if ypur looking for Old Southern Wedding this would be just beautiful.Good Luck Congratulations

Hey Karen, make sure you wear a big floppy sun hat on your wedding day. And make sure to say "I do declare!" at least every other sentence.

Thanks,

Abdul.

Here are a few ideas in and around Nashville:
Cedar Vine Manor <http://www.bbonline.com/tn/cedarvine/>
Riverwood Mansion <www.riverwoodmansion.com>
Two Rivers Mansion
<www.tworiversmansion.com>
Bel mont Mansion
<http://www.belmontmansion.com/>

My brother is a wedding videographer in Nashville and they have an organization called the Tennessee Weddings Specialists Association (www.twsa.com) that lists a lot of vendors for pretty much everything to do with weddings.

Congrats and good luck!

Wow, I can't believe no one on this board has mentioned Eden State Gardens in Grayton Beach, Florida (near Destin) There is a beautiful antebellum plantation home set among large oaks with spanish moss on the water.

Try this link: http://www.abfla.com/parks/EdenGardens/edengardens.html

It's nowhere near as pricey as the Biltomre (god, that's got to be an arm and a leg- we've been there) and your guests will have the luxury of being on the most beautiful beaches in the world. Plus they can go deep-sea fishing, play golf on world-class courses, and dine in an area that is home to 8 of Florida's top 200 restaurants, one of which has been named in the top 20 for the past ten years.

Does no one look at the DATES of these posts? What was the point of resurrecting it 1, then 2, then 5 months later? What do you people do, scroll through hundreds and hundreds of posts to find one you feel like making a smart-alecky remark on? And then others of you just answer as if the original question were just posted this morning?

I'm completely mystified by these practices. Karen and Mark have probably long since made their arrangements, broken up, gotten back together, then he was caught with the maid of honor and Karen's moved to Belize to teach American literature. Abdul is posting as "xxx" on other threads.

There is no city that says old south, with beautiful gardens, southern mansions, horses and carriages, better than Savannah, GA. This is withoutn a doubt one of the nost beautiful cities. Anne is right. The park in the center of town, surrounded bt all the things you requested, is the site of many weddings. Simply beautiful. One place you should sincerly check out if you are serious about this.

I have been to a wedding in St. Simon's Island in Georgia. It was very sounthern in a small church and the ocean was beautiful.

This reply is too late for Knoxville, but for others, FYI:
1. Depending on the prices you are considering - The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia, may just be the place you are looking for. 2. In Elkins WV, there is a place called the Hallie Hurst Mansion which is rented for weddings. Beside it is a beautiful charming inn called the Graceland Inn. My son is having an outdoor wedding there this fall. The bride is arriving via horse & buggy. |
