Looking for Las Vegas Hotel Ideas
 

Hello<BR><BR>I am looking for some quality bargains in hotels starting the 2nd of January. Any suggestions of places that might be had for under $150 / night (or less)? <BR><BR>I have never been to Vegas - would like a hotel that offers the opportunity for peace and quiet, as well as being close to the strip.<BR><BR>Thanks

Peace and quiet in Vegas??<BR>Go to Summerlin.. off strip...to JW Marriott.(formerly Las Vegas Regent). Take w. sahara ave..turn right onto rampart(about a 45 minute drive)from strip..but it is worth it. If you want under 150.00 a nite..don't bother..Venetian is 170 a nite but you will get peace and quiet..

95% of LV hotel rooms in LV are under $150/nt in January (on weekdays, and many weekends too).<BR>Unfortunately many of the best hotels are sold out for 1/2/03 already. Bellagio, for one.<BR><BR>I know Mandalay Bay is $109 for 1/2 and $169 for the weekend.<BR>This is one of the 5 best hotels in LV, but at the south end of the strip.<BR>Try Venetian.com, Paris' website, Mirage's website, etc.

Not sure about the previous poster stating that the rooms are already sold out as once New Years is over the prices will come back down to earth. Take a look at http://off2vegas.com for the hotel specials from the LA Times. I always check here first before I book a room in Vegas as they have some really good deals sometimes.

Ummmm....the reason I stated that some hotels are sold out is because I just checked...and some are. People coming in for New Year's are often required to stay a minimum # of nights at nicer hotels, and New year's Day is Wednesday, meaning many people will stay on thru weekend.

If you want a hotel that offers peace and quiet and is close to the strip,I would recommend the resort where I stayed last summer, the Alexis Park Resort. This property has been undergoing renovations so be sure to ask for a renovated suite. It is a very nice place.

The original poster (wisely) noted that he/she wants to be close to the strip for first visit.<BR><BR>That would eliminate Alexis Park, JW Marriott, Hyatt Lake Las Vegas, the Palms, Hard Rock etc etc.

The Stardust attracts an older crowd. This might help you get some peace and quiet if that is possible in Las Vegas. They are also one of the best of the &quot;inexpensive&quot; hotels on the strip. Nothing fancy there but worth the savings.

I hear the Riviera has rooms for as low as $29 except for New Years Eve which is slighlty higher. Right on the strip too! We enjoyed our stay there!

If you can spend over $100 a night, stay away form the north strip.<BR>Avoid Stratosphere, Sahara, Riviera, Circuc Circus, Hilton, Frontier and definitely avoid all the Station casinos.<BR>You have enough room in your budget to get a really nice room and do it up right.

The Mandalay Bay is really nice, but it is the farthest south of all hotels--you'll pay for taxis or spend a lot of time getting in and out of your car. Try Ceasars or Venetian. They are both great AND centrally located.

If you go to a few of the hotel websites including Luxor (www.luxor.com), many hotels have great rates for just after New Years. Luxor is showing $59/night Sun-Thurs. If you sign up for email list from places like the Bellagio, Mirage, MGM, Aladdin, etc. you will get email messages with great advertised rates for that time of year. Most upscale hotels have quiter rooms away from the casino floors with great amenities. Even Harrahs is offering $49/night Sun-Thurs. All the hotels mentioned are on the Strip and centrally located. There is also an inexpensive strip shuttle with d single trip or day passes. Good luck!
