Huge deals on travel..last minute on expedia can get you 4-5* for super cheap..just you have to decide if you can wing it on 2-3 weeks notice.
great deals on cruises out of FL for almost nothing to Cayman or Virgin Islands..outside cabin with ocean view..you would have to pay the extra single supplement. Savannah or Charleston comes to mind. |
Consider San Diego for reliable weather. Tucson is also an option. Arizon desert is cold at nights, but gets into the 70's every day. Sunshine guaranteed for both destinations.

In Jan and Feb, Hawaii is heaven.

PV on the west coast of Mexico is fantastic weather wise in January and February also. If that is not too far away you might want to look at the Mexico Forum, may. Our Fodorite, suze, goes there a lot by herself and always has a wonderful and safe time.

Thanks all... Some great ideas.. Arizona, Charleston++, and PV all sound interesting. Have thought of Arizona, but wondered if I'd miss ocean. 70's is fine with me~~Jan./Feb. could be -20 here... More information- I did Cal. and Oregon in June... Also, like to rent car (even for a few) and wander around taking in sites. All ideas welcome. Great forum..Glad I joined up!!

If you can do without the ocean, consider Death Valley as well. Easy drive from Las Vegas, Furnance Creek Inn is a great place. Lots of sun, cool (maybe chilly) nights. Lots of history.
Don't know about Jan, but in late Nov, southern Mississippi, Vicksburg, Natchez, etc were very nice, lots of sun, lots of historic sites, etc. |
Do you like Florida and just want a change? The Gulf coast of Florida has a much different feel than the Atlantic coast - have you thought of Ft Myers area? (I answered your post about Savannah and would not recommend that to meet your criteria)

I second Charleston. You can probably even walk on the beaches outside Charleston, if you wanted. Good food, relaxed, warm (but won't be hot).

Hello Everyone, Time to make a decision and book something...For guaranteed weather, etc. I've boiled it down to San Juan or Ft. Meyers... Haven't been in PR for 'bout 10 years, but hear it's still safe to stay on Ashford/Condado and also that (Thank you,Gail) Gulf coast is different from East coast..Will check out PR. forum and welcome reviews... Thank you.
