Looking for Hotel Recommendation in Lower Manhattan
 

I'll be attending a meeting at Hanover Square in NYC later this month. I would normally be staying in midtown, but the meeting is rather early. Any recommendations for a good busines hotel in the area? Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. I'm really looking for specific hotel suggestions since I'm not too familiar with accomodations in that area. I will be booking directly with the hotel rather than through a 3rd party.

I work right across the street from there and there are very few hotels in the area. There is a Club Quarters hotel very close by that is okay, I think. The Wall St. Regent recently closed. There are the Seaport Suites, but they aren't very nice.

You might try the Embassy Suites at Battery Park or the Ritz at Battery Park. Either one would be a very short cab ride to Hanover Square ($5 or so).

Do you think it might be do-able to just stay where I normally do (Sheraton midtown) and cab over in the morning??

A friend just recommended the Millenium Hilton to us which he said is near the Ground Zero site. I'm not sure how convenient that would be to your location but he highly enjoyed his stay there.

I second the vote for Millenium Hilton. Very nice rooms (all obviously recently renovated) and right across the street from subway stop.

Of course you can always cab from midtown in the morning, but from the Sheraton, you will be either taking surface streets or the West Side Highway, which is likely to have a lot of traffice in the a.m. rush. The FDR is better, so you might consider a hotel on the East Side.

The Millenium Hilton is supposed to be very nice. You should know that it sits right on the edge of the WTC site and was significantly damaged on 9/11. It has since been renovated. Many of the rooms look out over the site, so you should ask for one that doesn't if that will be unnerving for you.

It is right near the Fulton St. subway stop. At that stop, take the 2 or 3 (red line), NOT the 1 or 9, downtown to Wall St. Exit the William St. exit and walk down William St straight to Hanover Square.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. Unfortunately, the Millenium Hilton is booked during my dates. Since I will have meetings at both Hanover Square and midtown, the best solution seems to be staying in midtown and taking the subway in between.

tpl, I agree with lisettemac. If you're going to stay uptown, you'd be better off on the east side.

There are other hotels like the Tribeca Grand and the RC Battery Park that would reasonably closer to Hanover Square.

Okay, TPL, if you want to subway between the Sheraton and Hanover Square, that's even easier. From either Sheraton on 7th Ave, walk down to the 42nd Street subway stop. Take the 2,3 to Wall Street and follow my directions above.
