Looking for great ocean side San Diego hotel

We are looking for a beach side hotel with good ocean views and lots to do for our kids 21 to 25 years old.

You would be better off staying in the Mission Bay area (ie, Bahia Hotel). There really aren;t many ocean front hotels in San Diego. Mission Bay area will offer lots for your "kids", in addition you can rent bikes, canoes, skates, etc. You will be directly across the street from the ocean (which is too cold to swim in). Or, you can try some resorts over in Coronado. Have a great time.

Hotel Del Coronado would be a good choice.

I disagree with the Mission Bay idea if you truly want the ocean, besides MB is extremely polluted. Those resorts do cater to families though.

There are two hotels side-by-side on LaJolla Shores beach. Unfortunately I do not know the names. I walk there on a regular basis and always see tons of families. There are rentals of bikes, skates, etc. nearby.

The LaJolla Shores hotel is the LaJolla Beach and Tennis Club. They also own the hotel right next door - pricey, but wonderful.

The hotel next to the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club is its affiliated "Sea Lodge" - Wonderful hotel! The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club is more of a Condo Type hotel, while the Sea Lodge is a more conventional hotel. We stayed at the Sea Lodge for a week three years ago and were able to get a garden view room for $130. I've recently checked again thinking we might go back - and the rates were up a bit - But if the chance came again - we would head there in a minute. The Sea lodge is next door to a lovely park. The small, secuded street that leads to the Sea Lodge has a number of small, nice restaurants on it. The cove in front of the lodge is an underwater state park. In the water directly in front of the hotel - scuba divers meet each morning. In the water to the right of the hotel, nearer the pier - Surfers are everwhere. We rented sea Kayaks twice during our visit and at one point found ourselves over a group of about forty, harmless, nurse sharks - We later learned that it was mating season - Wonderful!! Scripts aquarium is just up the hill from the Lodge and many other attractions are close at hand. Have a great trip - whereever you stay!
