Looking for gorgeous, breath-taking place to have a very small wedding in Ca. Wine Country or around there on the Pacific Coast (in October)
My fiance and I will be vacationing with friends in the Ca. Wine Country and around Carmel at the end of October. We just decided we would get married while we were there since it is such a beautiful, peaceful area and we would already have our close friends with us as witnesses!!We need suggestions from the locals or regulars to the area on where to exchange vowels(ie.chapels, hotels, places with a view). Also, we need suggestions on where to celebrate & dine afterwards. Thanks for your help.

Anna, you might run into a scheduling problem with the many brides here in California who have booked up all the obvious places for ceremonies months in advance. However, since your group is small, you might have good luck on the beach somewhere. I just imagine that wineries and/or chapels might be booked throug October already. Have a look at sfbaybrides.com for some ideas on locations. You can select Napa or Sonoma counties for the wine country and Monterey county for Carmel. Good luck!

Maybe people should think outside of the box. If Anna and her fiance are on vacation they can get married on any day of the week so they will not be competing with the usual weekend weddings. Depending on the day of the week they do choose I bet they could get married nearly anywhare they wanted n'est pas?
Now somebody make some good suggestions!!!!!!!!!

The most wonderful place is the Ventana Inn in Big Sur. Check out their website. There is also a place called the Highland's Inn in Carmel which is nice, but doesn't compare to Ventana for views, uniqueness, etc. October is a wonderful month in this region, very warm days.

Hi-I was married at Trentadue winery, directly across the highway from Chateau Souverain...its a very small winery...in the Alexander valley in Sonoma County-really sweet. Also, Viansa Winery is really beautiful-sure to find both on the internet! congrats!

living on the Monterey Penninsula, we see alot of weddings on the beaches. Some spots that come to mind are Asilomar, lovers point (watch out for waves). There are many enchanting spots along the Asilomar rec trail and beaches. Another favorite area would be Point Lobos, again many enchanting spots.

THANKS for the nice suggestions so far!The areas mentioned sound really beautiful. Are these places so wonderful you would get married there? We will be getting married on a weekday - so we won't be competing with the big weekend weddings. We are pretty flexible about the day and the time.Thank you, thank you!

Anna-
My (then) fiance and I had an elopement wedding in Napa Valley last year and it was an event we will remember for the rest of our lives. The ceremony took place on the roof of Castle in the Clouds B&B which has unbelieveable views! Reverand Blaine performed the ceremony and took care of all the pre-marriage details including wedding license.
You said you planned a SMALL wedding, so this might work for you. Because if I remember correctly, they can only have events for 12 or fewer people at Castle in the Clouds.
Other alternatives we researched included Merryvale Winery, V. Sattui, and Gloria Ferrer winery.
Best wishes to you!!!

Auberge Du Soleil is an excellent choice. A co worker of mine was married there last month. She too had a small wedding and decided to marry on a Friday vs. Saturday.
It is in Napa. http://www.aubergedusoleil.com/
