To add to the controversey . . . the GREAT advantage of the All-Star resorts is that they have their own dedicated bus lines. The wait for the bus compared to other resorts is incredibly short, there's almost always a direct route, and no stopping at other resorts. The resorts are definitely no-frills (imagine Disney doing a Motel 6), but considering 1) the price, 2) the convenience, and 3) the limited time you'll be spending in your room, I think it's the best choice for a small family (I agree that the rooms might be a bit small for more than 1 kid).
