Looking for family restaurants in North Conway, New Hampshire
 

Please help. We are traveling with our seven year old and need some recommendations for good child-friendly restaurants. Hoping someone can turn us on to some good local food. Thanks for any and all help.<BR>

Elizabeth,<BR><BR>A little north of North Conway on route 16 is a very nice family restaturant called the Scarecrow. (It might be in either Jackson or Bartlett) Nice food and decorated with lots of scarecrows of every size and type. Your 7 year old would enjoy the decor and you'll like the reasonable prices.

Gunther's is a great place to go for breakfast, which is served all day. They even have venison sausage and a tasty pure apple cider syrup that goes well the pancakes. Phil's Diner is a good local diner also good for breakfast. Bellini's serves good food in large portions. The White Mountain Hotel serves a very nice seafood buffet on Friday nights. Storyland is on Route 16 and you can't get more child friendly than that theme park.

At the intersection of Rte 16 and 302...right near StoryLand are two neat places, The Red Parka Pub, and a place called The Whistle Stop (I think). Theyre right across from each other on 302. The Pub is a family oriented, bustling place for dinner. The Whistle Stop has a train running around the circumference of the dining room near the ceiling...good breakfast place.<BR>Also, in N. Conway, there's a new place on the southbound side of 16 called the Muddy Moose...not specifically geared to kids, but not anti-kid either....cool hats.

Fandangles at the intersection of Rt 16/302 is pretty kid friendly, as is the Muddy Moose & The Scarecrow. There is also a place up on the Jackson Loop (past Storyland and through the covered bridge). I forget the name, but it is on the right hand side, set back across from the Wentworth golf course - great kids menu and kids non-alcoholic drinks (this one had the best "adult" foood as well.

Sandra,<BR>I agree with all of the other recommendations. Because it is such a touristy area, most of the restaurants are child-friendly (except of course the 'fancy' ones) I highly recommend Horsefeathers, right in the center of N. Conway across from the Park. Get there early, I don't think they take reservations.
