Looking for cabin rental in Northern CA.

I'm looking to rent a cabin in the snow anywhere near Sacramento. Would like it for one night,Jan. 18., to sleep 3 adults and 3 kids.
Any ideas on where to look? Would be willing to travel to Tahoe or any surrounding areas with snow. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

It is unlikely you will find a cabin to rent for one night during the height of ski season. That is the friday of MLK weekend and most will have a 3 night (or more) minimum. You should probably look for a suite hotel instead - like the Embassy suites at Stateline. It isn't a cabin but they might have rooms available for 1 night. But move fast - the snow has been amazing this year and that will be a VERY busy weekend - IF the roads are open.
I agree that taking one day out of a 3-day weekend isn't likely to be viable (you are making the other two nights useless). Even normal weekends are usually two-night minimum.

Local real estate agents will handle the bulk of rentals; you could try a web search with some various towns on the map. If you don't plan to ski, choosing someplace away from the ski areas may give better availability (but then most of those cabins will be just shut up for the winter). You might try around Arnold (a bit south), or Mt Lassen. You could also check classified ads in Sacramento paper (or San Jose).

We've had good luck booking with Truckee Mountain Vacation Rentals (tmvr.com) in the north shore area. They have a large inventory of cabins so they still might have availability for your dates.

Agree with above TMVR.com is an excellent source for rentals - primarily Tahoe Donner, Donner Lake and Truckee. Have used them past winters and have had great experience. For being at a resort, Northstar is hard to beat, but for kids and proximity to Truckee have found Tahoe Donner to be the best value.

FWIW, 18 January 2003 is a Saturday.

Oops, you are right about the date. Sorry. But that doesn't change the fact that Mario will have a hard time finding a one-night cabin rental. Martin Luther King weeked is a huge ski weekend.

Sorry, Mario. It ain't gonna happen.
