Re comments about weather... Websites promoting a destination don't always give the full or necessarily accurate weather picture. Even if you check historical weather records for that week, it's crystal-ball-gazing until you get there and look out the window. Temps in Palm Springs could be about the same as L.A. and about the same as San Diego, but it gets much colder in the desert after sunset. Historical records for Tucson and Phoenix in that week reflect temps that aren't significantly different from SoCal. Hawaii can be warmer, but travel times are longer. Puerta Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas would involve less time in the air than Hawaii but probably higher fares.
I'd pick the place that offers the most of what interests you and/or fits your budget, and then hope for good weather. |

This sounds wonderful. Where would I look for more information? I am not a cruise person, haven't been on one. Thank you!

We went several years ago to Palm Springs between Christmas and a day or two after New Years and absolutely loved it. We did a day trip to Joshua Tree and we went up to winter wonderland at the top of the Aerial Tramway as there was snow on the ground. We enjoyed nice dinners, strolling around and visiting the outstanding Art Museum and drove and walked around to the mid-century architecture. Our house had a heated pool and a hot tub as well as a putting green. My daughters are grown but I think that kids would enjoy it. February however is the height of the season so bear that in mind as it might be quite pricey.
We also once spent a week in San Diego at the beginning of February at the Del in Coronado. So it wasn't hot enough to swim in the pool but you could sit out and walk around and it was quite pleasant and we did enjoy the hot tub. Of course you have the zoo as well as touring the Midway and Balboa Park and La Jolla where we went on the trail walk, so lots to do to keep busy. |
Well traveled and with a passport, I'd keep Mexico on the list for consideration. It has everything you requested.
