Looking for a Romantic Getaway from Soutwest to Southeast
 

My husband and I are looking for a special place to spend our 19th anniversary. We only have 4 nights but can fly anywhere in continental US from LAX.
--we want some R&R, a place that is romantic... perhaps a beach resort that has restaurants and a spa, a B&B in a quaint town we can wander around in, or ? We can get away in June or July and want somewhere warm. We will spend up to $350/night.
--Any suggestions out there? Thank you!

Charleston, South Carolina would be a wonderful, romantic place for you to visit.
Another place would be the Elk Cove Inn in Elk, California. This is on the Northern California coast above San Francisco. Elk is a quaint, wonderful town with absolutly gorgeous views of the water.

yes, Santa Barbara would be too close 9only an hour away), though a great city! I will check out Elk Cove and have aways wanted to go to Charleston. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Santa Fe would be lovely. Lots of great hotels and spas to choose from, great restaurants, wonderful museums, perfect weather with sunny warm days [no humity] and cool evenings. No beach, but lots of history and ancient ruins and galleries and mountains and outdoor activities etc. Quaint town, easy to walk, it's magical.

I second Santa Fe. June or July is warm and beautiful. Ten Thousand Waves Spa is such a decadent treat for you and your husband. The acclaimed Santa Fe Opera will open in July. Enjoying the opera in the open setting with the New Mexico sunset in the background is truly magical!

For a special occastion as this I would recommend Inn of the Five Graces. The guest rooms are all decorated differently and the staff is so accomodating. Great location near the plaza.

A wonderful town for a special occasion. You can do as much or as little as you'd like and have a fabulous time!

How about my town, Park City? Just a short flight and a 30 minutes drive up the canyon. Plenty to do for 4 days, July is PARADISE. Highly recommend the Stein Erickson Lodge at Deer Valley, a 5 diamond AAA rated property, with spa, pool, etc.. Or, the Washington School Inn, if you prefer a B&B type setting.

what is in Fredricksburg, TX? What large city is that near?

I hadn't thought of Santa Fe...haven't been there. We've been to Sedona once and Phoenix many times. We love the southwest and would consider going again, but thought we'd see what else is out there. I will check into Santa Fe.
Someone suggested Charleston and on other threads I've seen lots of beautiful places to stay. Would 4 nights be enough?

Asheville, NC is a lovely town surrounded by the mountains. You could visit the Biltmore, Blowing Rock, etc.

this may sound dumb, but is there a large airport in Asheville or do you fly in elsewhere and drive? I've seen the Biltmore estate on HGTV and it looks so beautiful!

There's an airport in Asheville. Some direct flights from airline's hubs, but many flights connect via Atlanta.

I searched some Asheville threads and found the Grove Park Inn and Richmond hill Inn-both very nice places to stay. Anyone stay there?

Asheville is about a 4 hour drive from the Atlanta airport. It's a pretty drive.

I love the historic rooms at the Grove Park Inn and the grotto pool and spa are spectacular.

I love eating at the Richmond Hill Inn, but I've not been that impressed with the rooms.

The Inn at Biltmore is absolutely gorgeous.

There are a lot of B&B's in Asheville.

Charlotte NC is about 2 hours away if your airline offers direct flights to Charlotte.

When driving from Atlanta you can get on the Blue ridge parkway to Asheville.Very nice drive.PAul

The drive is already almost 4 hours - and it's a pretty drive using the faster routes. Personally, I'd probably drive a segment of the BRP after I actually arrived in Asheville, but it IS an option I'd never considered before.

NOTE to OP - "Clayton" in GA on the map in a landmark on the route up from Atlanta via 441. (I85/985/365/441)
