Looking for a resort with great pools/onsite waterparks.
 

Looking for a resort with fantastic pools with slides, waterfalls, etc. for a week this summer with my mom and my kids. Kids love water and waterparks, we've been to Kingston Plantation 3 years in a row and want to try someplace new, plus their rates went up sky high this year. Any suggestions?<BR><BR>Definitely want an outside pool, not inside, and wouldn't be interested in Wisconson Dells.<BR><BR>We're open to anyplace. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about the Disney Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts in Orlando? They share some pretty nice pools and a cool waterslide. The hotels themselves are a bit plastic, and the rooms slightly Generic Mid-Level Hotel in feel, but they're clean and comfortable. The downside is, they're a bit pricey (rack rates start at $289).<BR><BR>A vacation in Orlando can really get expensive as you start adding in theme park visits and whatnot, so start shopping around immediately. You MIGHT find some deals, but....

New Braunfels Texas has a great spring fed water park, and a separate modern water park with processed water. The motels on site didn't look very impressive, but I've never been in them, and New Braunfels is small enough that any hotel in town would be close by. It is about an hour outside San Antonio.

nina-Why don't you come to Cedar Point in Ohio this summer. In addition to the amusement park, they have a great water park. Your kids would love it. If you are flying you can fly into Cleveland, maybe do a day at the Rock Hall of Fame or Science Museum and drive to Cedar Point, about an hour from the airport.<BR><BR>Here is the url:<BR>www.cedarpoint.com

The resort and waterpark in New Braunfels, TX is called Schlitterbahn. It gets voted the best waterpark in the world year after year. <BR><BR>The resort is not fancy but it is INSIDE the park and you can use the pools and pool size hot tub all night. Your kids can even use the whole park to run around and play in after hours.<BR><BR>I take a group of high school seniors there every year and they love it.<BR><BR>It's close to San Antonio which is a neat city to visit and it has a Sea World and Six Flags. Both have water parks.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check out both Cedar Point and Schlitterbahn, we have some vouchers on American that I want to use up so we're flying free.

Oh and thanks for the Yacht/Beach club suggestion too. I am considering that as well, but I wanted to do a low budget trip and you can't go to Disney without going in the parks (can you?), so I have to see if we want to splurge so soon after just going there!

Nina, Kingston has been coming up on Priceline (for summer dates) for $125 per night. I know they also have their condos on HotelKingdom.com.

Gotravel, THANKS! My mom and the boys were so disappointed that the rates had almost doubled and we were considering not going this year. I'll check out both those sites.

I saw the new coaster at Cedar Point this past weekend and it blew me away. The thing towers at 412 feet high with speeds in excess of 125 mph. Supposed to be the world's tallest, fastest etc. If your kids like roller coasters that is the place to be. The Millenium, another of their coasters is rated the top coaster by ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) in the country. They also have a great water park. I know I sound like a broken record, but the place is really amazing and I think your kids would have a blast...

Cedar Point is big fun and it would be a great choice for a day or two. However, you mentioned staying for a week. You will not want to spend a week at Cedar Point - that would be way too long. As another poster mentioned, you could do other things during your week in Ohio. However, if you just want to stay put for a week, Cedar Point wouldn't be my first choice.<BR><BR>I would second the Yacht and Beach Club at Disney. It can get pricey, but check out mousesavers.com. There is a ton of information there on how to save money, including codes to use for hotel reservations. <BR><BR>You certainly could stay at a Disney resort and not go to the parks -- or you could choose one park for a day to keep the costs down. Another possibility is to do one of their great water parks like Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. <BR><BR>The pool at the Yacht and Beach Club (Storm Along Bay) is really great. Your family could have a lot of fun.<BR><BR>Hope this is helpful. <BR><BR>

Thanks for all the great suggestions. If I can't get Kingston I am seriously considering Orlando. Actually my kids are not big coaster fans, so someplace with lots of waterparks, maybe a beach and some things for the adults are what I'm looking for. I also think I may take advantage of the slow business at Disney, supposedly attendance is down there.

Yes nina by all means go to Disney. You East Coast socialite types with little ivy leaguers in training would absolutlely hate anywhere in the Midwest including Ohio.

Sorry Nina, I'm mistaken. Kingston has their condo rentals on HotelDiscounts.com. My husband and I stayed at one of the 2-Bedroom oceanfront Brighton Condos a month ago and the summer rack rate was $429 per night and HotelDiscounts.com had them much cheaper. By the way, click on the &quot;Display Available Suites and Vacation Rentals&quot; bar instead of the one for hotel rooms.

Thanks go, I didn't find them on Hotelkingdom so I went over to hoteldiscounts and saw them there. I figured you might have mixed them up, I know I always do!

We're going to Disney and doing Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, they're on the www.disneyworld.com site and you can print a map too. You don't have to stay within Disney to go there and they'<BR>re $33 for ages 10+, and $26 ages 3-9 (includes tax). There are a few hotels in the Disney area that have theme pools too and most have free shuttles to the parks. Have fun!

Nina,<BR><BR>Noticed you said you planned to take advantage of lowered attendance at Disney. Just got back and things were packed, including flights. I'd do advanced planning and not assume prices or crowds are down. The upside is there's plenty to do and you should have fun. Just be prepared for lines. Try Bidding For Travel to research Priceline rates. <BR><BR>
