Looking for a nice hotel in Minneapolis
 

We will be spending 1 night in Minneapolis in June, and would like to stay at a nice hotel as a treat. We plan to see a show at the Guthrie that night, and so are hoping to be close to the theatre - if not within walking distcane, then a quick drive.

Hotel ratings online are all over the map - no one seems to agree. Are there one or two that are considered the best/most luxurious/cream of the city? Not really interested in a business-typle place, so much as something elegant, with character, and/or top of the line.

I am a huge fan of the Chambers Hotel. Not within walking distance of the Guthrie but I can't think of one that is. This would be my first choice.

Other options would be the Graves 601, the new W or the Ivy.

Have fun. Eat at Sea Change if you are going to the Guthrie.

We enjoyed the W Minneapolis. It's in the Foshay Tower. Very modern/edgy. Not that far from the Guthrie - a quick cab ride.

We stayed at the W in the Foshay Tower over the the Christmas Holidays and we loved it. Have also stayed at Chambers and also liked that. Have not been to Graves 601 but friends have stayed there and they liked it.

That happens when anybody can post an opinion. On TripAdvisor, I discount drastically all reviews by those who have posted only one or two reviews and give more credence to reviews of those who have posted many reviews.

Applying these principles, The Marquette and Graves 601 float to the top of my wish list.

Nicollette Island Inn is a B&B with a good reputation. If you and your friend have similar preferences, it might just be the place for you.

I really like the Grand Hotel, which I believe is on 2nd in the Downtown area. I've stayed several times when in town on business. The rooms I've had have been fairly large, with especially large bathrooms.

My favorite touch is the pot of coffee that accompanies your wake up call.

We looked at all of them, and they all do look excellent. Hard to choose!!

We've decided to stay at The Grand - it seems to have the elegant upscale feel we are looking for, but also seems relaxed, too. (Like I'm not going to have to worry about looking hip or trendy the whole time whilst staying there!)
