Looking for a great place to stay in San Francisco
Spending Memorial day weekend in San Francisco. Would like to stay in a hotel with a good breakfast and free internet that is not too far from the city. Any recommendations? Outlying area would be fine as we can just drive into the sights we want to visit. If the hotel is by the BART even better. Price range $100-150 per night.
Thanks!

Isn't Memorial Day weekend just 2 1/2 days away????
Stay in the City - not outside. Driving to the sights is not nearly as easy as you think unless you are very familiar with traffic patters, parking lots, where not to try to park, one-way streets, crossing Market St, etc.
Act fast - take anything you can get (sorry I don't have any specific recommendations).

If you're willing to "gamble", you can get a 4-1/2* hotel for $129 a night on Hotwire.
Are you going to have a car? Parking in the downtown hotels (and in the other garages) is very very expensive (in the $30-50 a night range).

Hotel des'arts www.sfhoteldesarts.com is a real experience and very affordable. RIGHT in the middle of town, near the art institute and CAFE CLAUDE (a must) A couple of very odd dudes bought it and let individual artists have their way with each room. greg and I stayed in an "interactive room" that was the bedroom of a 17 year old in 1972. We played ELO and carpenter albums on the record player all night! The rooms are very small, thus inexpensive, but we really dug it. We live right outside the city but wanted a weekend in to museum hop. Have fun!
