Looking for a Golf Vacation for April 2012

We are looking for a golf resort for a spring break trip this april. My husband and son will want to golf as much as possible and I would just like to be somewhere warm and hang out at the pool or beach. We have been to the Amelia Island Plantation in Florida and The Horseshoe Bay resort in Texas. We liked them both very much but, would love to go somewhere new. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

We just got back from a 5 day golf outing in Myrtle Beach and had a great time. Weather should be fairly mild there in April. There are scores of golf courses available to play. Our package included 5 nights in a resort condo, 5 rounds of golf on 5 different courses, breakfast & lunch each day plus 4 alcoholic beverage per person each day all for under $500/person.

Other areas to consider are Hilton Head, SC, or Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ or Miami Beach - all have an abundance of golf courses and relatively warm weather in April

Thanks for your response. Who did you book your package through? We have looked at Myrtle Beach before but have never actually gone there. Were the courses on or near the condo or did you need a car?

We booked our package through "Legends Golf" (www.legendsgolf.com) - 3 of the course were "on resort" and the other 2 were "off resort" (needed a car to get there). You can pick/choose the courses you want to play when you book the package.

If you do an internet search for "Myrtle Beach Golf Packages" you'll find numerous places that have similar packages - lots of different places/packages to choose from - so much so you may get sensory overload. I don't know exactly how many course there are in the area but venture to say there's well over 75 difference courses you can play. From my research it was obvious you can pick/choose any number of courses and any number of golf rounds you want. It's a golfers paradise.

Marco Island is a great golf destination. April weather in South Florida is spectacular. You must have a car to travel from courses to hotel. The Marriott on Marco is a very good hotel on a superb beach with fine pools. The Lely Flamingo courses are about 20 minutes from Marco. On the north side of Naples along Imokalee Road, there are about 12 fine courses including the Quarry where the Seniors play each year. Consider making tee times on golfnow.com to for great pricing.

Myrtle is famous for golf packages. April is pre-season as the Beach is a major family destination and doesn't get busy til the kids are out of school. Litchfield is a resort we have stayed for golf trips. Litchfield has several courses, is affiliated with many more, and has beach and pool. You definitely need a car in Myrtle. The 100 or so courses that are promoted in Myrtle are actually along a stretch 50 miles north to south.

If you liked Amelia Island you would like Kiawah Island near Charleston. I like Kiawah even better than Amelia---lots of golf courses, walk to the beach, condos and houses on the beach and on the golf courses, bike paths, restaurants--and Charleston about a half hour away.

Look at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort. Just below MB--much nicer beach and traffic and restaruants and shopping.

If you stay at Litchfield you can play probably 7 courses within 10 miles, 3 across the street.

Thank you so much for the great ideas. I will look up all of these.

Hilton Head is a great option too!

Scottsdale, AZ is a great option with TPC Scottsdale--a PGA tour facility.
