Looking for a B&B/unique hotel in NYC (G.V.)

Hello all
Can anyone help locate a bed & breakfast, or non-chain hotel in NYC? I am looking in lower Manhattan, Greenwich Village/SOHO. I found the Abingdon Guest House mentioned several times in past postings, but I wanted to find some additional options.
We are an architect and interior designer, so unique spots are appreciated! (looking to spend under $175/night.)
Thanks for any suggestions!

There are not many hotels in the Greenwich Village area - check Washington Square Hotel (which I havn't stayed at) and The Larchmont (which I have stayed at and loved).

You can do a search under "Rants and Raves".

The Inn at Irving Place is supposed to be lovely & romantic but will be above your price. Are you looking for cutting edge/modern?

My cousin stayed at a funky place in Murray Hill (25th St. on the East Side) called the Carlton Arms. Each room is decorated differently. It's not in the Village but it's just a quick ride on the 6 train to the East Village.

I also found out about a "boutique hotel" called the Murray Hill Inn, in the same area.

You also might want to try finding an agent that rents apartments short-term. My friend's parents found a cute little studio apt. in the West Village that suited their needs perfectly. Good luck and have a great trip!

You might try the Gershwin, very funky, or a bit more upscale is the SoHO Grand, or the Tribeca Grand.

Not much else in SoHo.

There are a few further south in the Wall St area.

Try a search on hotels in Manhattan, for more choices downtown.

Good luck and have a great time while you are here.

Thank you all for the great input. We booked the Gershwin.
Looking forward to a great weekend in the city!
Thanks again
