Long weekend...suggestions

My friend and I are thinking about going to Florida within the next year to ‘just get away from it all’. The summer months will not really be an option. We are looking for an inexpensive, relaxing weekend. Sightseeing is not a must, but we don’t want to just be bumps on logs either. Any suggestions?

I think St Augstine may be a good choice.

St Augustine was recommended by other posters to me and I check the web and found it a very nice place for a get away. I was also given very a useful website that you may find useful some useful info here: www.staugustine.com

Hope it may be helpful

What about exploring the Keys?

As much as I love the Keys, they are too much of a pain to get in and out of for a long weekend.

Renae,

The Keys would not be bad as long as you
stayed until Monday...Sunday evenings can
be very bad going northbound....
What types of things would you be doing?
Certain areas of Florida are more laid back, (like the Keys) and others have more
to do...have fun!

I vote for The Keys. Off season traffic is usually very light unless there is a major accident.

I would recommend Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Relax at the pool or beach during the day and enjoy the bustling night life in the evenings. Perfect for just a long weekend.

Thank you for all of the ideas. I have been checking into St. Augustine and the Keys. How much driving would be involved with the Keys? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Keys are just over 100 miles long with lots to see and do all along them. You could drive as little or as much as you want and still have a relaxing, peaceful time.
