Long weekend leaving from OKC
I am trying to decide on a long weekend trip w/my husband and 4yr old. We will be leaving from Oklahoma City. We are bored with Dallas, have thought about Branson, but have been there several times already. I need some new ideas!

Hi - I'd try Tulsa or Wichita. Tulsa has a new aquarium opening soon. Wichita has a great zoo and Exploration Place, which is a science/children's museum. Both cities are within a few hours.
If you are planning on leaving in the near future I would recommend Kansas City, about five hours drive for you, interstate the entire way.

Right now they have the March of the Teddy Bears (www.marchoftheteddybears.com) the city's way of celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Teddy Bear. There are about 150 four foot tall statues scattered all over the downtown area that your child would love! Combine this with a visit to the renovated Union Station, which is now a hub of science activites for families, and even the zoo in town there and it would be a great long weekend! Not to mention the Kansas City offers a little contrast to the surronding area with pleasant hilly neighborhoods reminscient of San Francisco.

Also, Kansas City is known as the City of Fountains, for all the fountains located across town. I know that when I was four, going to waterfountains seemed to entertain me to no end.

I am sure you could find other things your child and husband would enjoy, a simple search of Kansas City tourism would provide lots of results! Enjoy!

Try going south, toward Turner Falls Park in Arbuckle Mountains in Davis, OK. Lots of fun stuff for a 4 yr old, and pretty area.

What about going into Western Arkansas? Eureka springs for one...Fayetteville Arkansas for another...isn't that a straight shot on 40 , then north on 71? Very pretty area.
