Long weekend in Seattle ...SNOWED
Made reservation weeks ago thinking weather would be the usual "rain"..
which compared to Eastern WA. would be a relief ..Barely made it over the pass( I 90) when began to snow. Decided to use this change in weather to stay extra days. Stayed @ Silver Cloud.Broadway mainly because just few blocks from Elliott Bay Bookstore..(almost as big as Powell's in Portland) and Frye's Art Museum adjacent to Univ. of Seattle. Also this hotel has underground parking with access to rooms via elevator and must use room key...nice restaurant on premises .(parking fee...$37) In area (2 blocks) big grocery store, drug store, Starbucks @ Chipotle.. These types of conveniences are important to me...as senior lady that travels solo...don't like to be out after dark.... Next decided to splurge.. Edgewater Inn on Pier 67...Adjacent to Cruise port. Rooms on water side $$$..rooms have electric fireplace .clawfoot bath tub...big window overlooks bay ..can see the Ferries and pleasure boats...beautiful at night.. great and expensive restaurant and of course parking fee $ 40 + No "conveniences" near..(hotel has shuttle to major areas).1/4 mile to Pike's Place and the "big wheel" Most of Embarcadero is "under construction" but lots of parking garages.. Weather reports I 90 Snoqualmie Pass really "icey" ...staying another day. Oh Darn 💔 |
Nice that you get an extra day;) We were over at Snoqualmie Falls this morning and it was very cold! Started snowing right as we got close to home. Highway 2 over Stevens Pass has been closed most of the day. Hope you have a safe drive home tomorrow!

I live in in Seattle, but we are currently in Hawaii - good timing weather-wise.
BTW, if I was going to splurge on a hotel I'd choose something in the downtown core... Maybe the Inn at the Market, The Mayflower, the Fairmont, etc. Oddly. enough, the Edgewater is currently in a "desert" in terms of services in the area, partly due to the construction you mentioned. But the view is gorgeous - enjoy! |
The sun is shining in Seattle at the moment. Hope you continue to enjoy your visit with us.
Suze, in Seattle |
Is it melting any SNOW????

|
There's no snow. It never really stuck within the city limits.

Where do you live Gardyloo? I'm in Capitol Hill and Pioneer Square and we've got nada.
|
Well it's gone now, but it did stick overnight last weekend here in Ravenna.
|
Suze, our house sitter reported we had a couple of inches that stuck over night, and friends who live nearby had three inches. I live in Magnolia, and it is often warmer here than in other parts of the city. I'm surprised the snow didn't stick on Capital Hill. Anyway, we flew home from Hawaii yesterday and were pleased to see normal (cold and wet) Seattle weather. But the weather report says snow on Friday...
|
Well it's sunny and 49 degrees at the moment.
So if it's gonna snow tomorrow, something BIG is going to need to change! |
Talking to a friend in Edinburgh today. Everything's completely paralyzed throughout Scotland by snow and ice. They've called out the army to provide access for staff and patients at one (or more) of the hospitals in Edinburgh. Cry when you have no shoes and all that...

My weather app is no longer predicting snow for tomorrow. Yup, sunny here in Magnolia as well. I actually worked in my garden a bit today.
