Long Weekend in Carmel
My husband has been invited to the Pebble Beach Pro/Am Golf Classic by a vendor. It is this coming weekend. We are staying at the Carmel Valley Ranch.
I love shopping and wine. Can anyone suggest daytime activites for a lonely golf widow with a Visa to max?! |
well there is a coach store on the main drag of carmel, as well as other chain stores. there are whale watching boats out of monterey. the view from the highlands inn casual restaurant is great, so it's a good stop for lunch. There are lots of art galleries in carmel, altho fairly retro in my opinion.

If you just want to shop, you will find stores on Ocean Ave, as well as in the Crossroads Center. Personally I think there is more to do in the Carmel area than just shopping--it is located on one of the most beautiful coasts in the world. If you have a car, go to Point Lobos and take in some of the world's best scenery, or take a drive down 1 towards Big Sur--have lunch at Ventana or Nepenthe. Since you like wine visit the wineries in Carmel Valley. Just explore--this weekend the weather will be gorgeous.

The shops at the Carmel Plaza are all very nice, then you could walk downtown to the beach there. :)
We were just in Carmel for four days in December, we had a wonderful time. In Carmel Valley, check out the Bernardus Lodge and have lunch at Wickets. You will enjoy the property, it's really nice and Bernardus makes some really great wine. Have fun! There are also a couple of nice spas in the Pebble Beach area. Roy's for a meal would also be one of picks. ***kim*** ((l)) |
there's a really nice walking tour of carmel where you see alot of places you might not normally see
|
Also on the road to Carmel Valley is I winery I like, Chateau Julien. You may also like the Crossroads shopping/ dining area. I like Bahama Billy's for a casual but very nice lunch or dinner. They also have a very good wine list.

Can I come? I'm alot of fun!!!! lol! I highly suggest wine tasting - there are few going in to Carmel, including Chateau Julian and Heller Estates. A drive to Big Sur would be great, but best for two unless you need down time to get centered. We had a wonderful dinner at Roys - find out when the piper plays on the patio and have cocktails there b4 dinner - quite fun.

Lucky you! You're going to love Carmel Valley Ranch. Have fun.

There's always the aquarium in Monterey when you get tired of wine and shopping.

Just back and had a great time! The weather was unbelievable, 10-15 degrees warmer than usual. Which was just what we needed. Detroit is in the 30's.
My husband's vendor was very nice to us. They rented out the entire aquarium in Monterey and hosted a lovely dinner. Their skybox was on the 18th green at Pebble, so lots of celebs! We had lunch a Casanova's, which I can now highly recommend...3500 bottle wine cellar. Yum! The Carmel Valley Ranch was amazing. The views and there are tons of deer and wild turkey roaming the property. My husband also really enjoyed the course there, if anyone is interested. Thanks for all the help! |
