long term stay in MD/DC area
My daughter is at NIH receiving treatment for cancer and needs a place to stay for two months. does anyone know of a long term stay hotel in either MD. or columbia area? Or even a short term rental of a furnished place?

I am a volunteer at an area Ronald McDonald House and will try to help. If you have a social worker at NIH, he/she should be able to help with housing. I think there is a children's house or hotel at NIH as well but its name escapes me. Sometimes the houses for families will take adult patients. You can also go online and find where the Washington DC Ronald McDonald house is located; perhaps it is accessible with public transportation.
You are surely way ahead of me on this but perhaps some of this will help. I'll hold good thoughts for your daughter.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the hotel at NIH is not designed for long term stay for people in the trial she is participating in. She needs a fairly sterile environment and is not allowed to be around children which is why the ronald mcdonald house wouldn't work. I appreciate you taking the time, if anyone has other thoughts please let me know.

Hi,
I don't have any insider info but there are furnished apts and hotels available for short term stays in the area.
Try these pages:

I live 1/2 mile from NIH. If you give me more specifics about how sterile the environment needs to be, how much you can afford to spend, etc I can try to help you. Also, if you find something online and you want me to go check it out for you I will be happy to do so. Just let me know. Laura
