Long Term Rentals Honolulu, Hawaii
 

My husband and I will be moving to Honolulu, Hawaii for one year (June, 2002-June 2003) while he does a year of residency at the UH hospitals. We are looking for a long term apartment rental, fully furnished, within walking distance of the beach. Does anyone have any ideas as to where we can find such a thing? Oh, and it has to accept pets.

Where will you be I know Staub and Queens locations what area is your location.<BR><BR>I like Kailua or Lanikai side and would strongly suggest you go to that side. Nevertheless, Kahala, Diamond Head, Blackpoint are also nice areas. Windward side (Kailua, Lanika,)Would mean a 20 minute commute if UH is near hospitals mentioned above or if it is near UH campus. There is more green space on the windward side though.<BR><BR> Realtors through out the island and many do long term rentals. I suggest you rent for a week or two and visit the property before you commit financially.<BR>

Too bad you're not here right now... I have a great 2 bdrm unit $1250 per month. I hope to have it rented long before June though! <BR> You really should wait till you get here, as Hawaii homes can be very different from other areas. Thanks for that info. I do have an aunt and uncle who live on the island and have been able to check out apartments for us. we could stay with them while we get settled, but since we are going right from our honeymoon, we'd rather just move into our own place.

Casey, the hospital or the university where your husband will be a resident should have information. Most universities have offices that help or provide info such as you need. Also, they may have ads/requests from people going on academic leave and so on. At this time of year I see lots of ads in our local university newspaper in the midwest.
