Long term parking at JFK-NY airport
Hello: If anyone has recently driven to and used long term parking at JFK I would be glad to get your opinions/advice. Need to drive to JFK's JetBlue terminal, and leave my car for five days. Not sure if I should use the long term lot located within the airport or one of the private owned lots on the side road of the belt parkway. The private lots offer shuttles, and I think JFK has a tram and a shuttle(want to get to the gate on time). Cost is about $18 to $20/ day at the private lots. Not sure of the cost at JFK. Trying to find out the pros and cons of both choices . Thanks for your time and advice.

$18 per day at JFK. And you take the train to the terminal. I've done it a number of times and its fine. Bring a snow shovel if it is in winter.

I chose JFK long-term parking. The private lots are fine, but it's (generally) cheaper to park right at the airport. An internet search might make you THINK you've found a better daily rate, but wait till your link adds taxes & fees before you click on the [Reserve] Button. JFK Long-Term is $18 per day, and $6 per eight-hour segment, all taxes & fees included from the start.
At the long-term lot, a free bus can take you from your car to the free AirTran rail, and from there it's a short ride to all terminals. Make certain you know which terminal your airline is leaving from, as there are a LOT of terminals and a LOT of airlines that use JFK. When returning from your trip, make certain to ride the AirTran back to Lefferts Blvd. There are two AirTran routes -- one to Howard Beach, one to Jamaica -- but only the former goes to long-term parking https://www.panynj.gov/photo/airport...map_jfk_lg.jpg Here's a way to check for the best possible cost: http://www.bestparking.com/jfk-parking/ If you find a private lot that meets your needs, great. If the price is close, take the airport lot, as it will make your trip to the terminals a LOT more convenient. |
If you want daily covered parking, that's also available at JFK and is generally closer to the terminals. But it costs $35 a day.
