Long-standing downtown Chicago restaurant needed
I'm looking for a recommendation for a restaurant that's been in Chicago for a long time so it has a well-known reputation for consistently good food and a quiet atmosphere. Italian is good but open to other types. It also has to be casual enough so my husband doesn't have to wear a coat and tie. We're on our way to India and will have a completely different wardrobe with us. Thanks, Serena

I'd second the rec. for Italian Village: it's the classic Chicago downtown Italian place, esp. the upstairs part of the restaurant ("The Village") with twinkly lights on the ceiling. The food is straightforward red sauce Italian, but tasty.
