Long Island to JFK

Because of a situation that is too confusing to describe here, I will be arriving at McArthur Airport in Long Island and will have to immediately go to JFK to catch another flight. I know it's about an hour's travel. My question is: what is the quickest and cheapest way to do this? If both quick and cheap are not available together, just let me know what is cheapest (if time was not an issue) or quickest (if cost was not an issue).
Sorry for the length. Thanks, New Yorkers! :)

You can try Classic - they are an airport transportation service; I usually take them from home to the airport. Their prices are pretty reasonable and they are reliable.

Sorry I forgot to include : to get info
about Classic online, go to
www.classictrans.com. You can get online quotes and reservations or a phone # if you want to call.

Tanya,
Quickest - car service.
Cheapest - train/bus - not recommended.

ISP-JFK travel times:
Weekends, 1 hour is close but doable.
Weekdays, more like 90 minutes
provided all goes well on the roads.

Call the transport companies the other posters have mentioned to make sure they can get you to JFK in time.

Good luck and bon voyage.
hth,
Actually I would recommend the train/bus combo depending on when you are getting in and how much time you have for the transfer. If you hit at certain times in the summer you could be in for an odyssey on the road. Take the MacArthur shuttle to the LIRR station in Ronkonkoma (about 5 mins.), and then take the LIRR to Jamaica Station (1 hr. - 1hr. 10 min.) where you can catch a NY Airport Service bus to JFK (like 10 mins.). Need to get the timings down though to catch them...LIRR info is a www.mta.info, Airport bus can be found through a link at panynj.gov under the airport, check MacArthur airport website about that shuttle.

Mel,
I agree that the LIRR/bus is the least expensive and sometimes the best way to get to JFK - I've used it a couple of times to JFK.

I'm figuring the poster is trying to make a European or other long haul flight and we don't even know what day of the week she's coming in - weekend LIRR schedule in Ronk. could have her waiting up to an hour for a train. She misses the JFK flight and the whole trip starts to unwind.

Tayna, if you give us more info. about:
Day and time you arrive at ISP.
Time your JFK flight leaves.
us "locals" can be of more assistance.

My $0.02

Does anyone know the schedule for NY Airport Services buses to JFK? I tried using their web site but the link is broken and the information on the automated answering service isn't working. I'm going to try the LIRR to Jamaica-bus to JFK route. Thanks,
-M-
