I don't know how much baggage you'll have with you, but you could take a cab from the airport to the nearest Long Island Railroad Station (I think there's a stop at Islip), and train it to Penn Station in NYC. You can look up schedules and fares on their website. Or if that seems like too much trouble, you probably could hire a car or limo to take you to NYC. Maybe some other people will have some more recommendations. Good luck to you.

Ess - the "Islip" airport is not really in Islip. You're correct that there is a LIRR station near enough for a cab ride, but the station would be Ronkonkama.

Ithink there is some kind of bus/shuttle to the closestLI railroad station. A cab/car service would be cost prohibitive - over $100/one way

Mac Arthur airport (islip) is about 50 miles from NYC. The Long Island RR is the cheapest way in. Rental cars are cheaper out there than at LGA or JFK.

THANKS EVERYONE for your helpful input.
My friend is going to be on ESPN's 2 Minute Drill and I'll be sure to tell him to mention something on the air....
