Long established Italian restaurants in San Francisco North Beach
We will be staying in North Beach for a few nights next week. We would like to find a good Italian restaurant that has a long established reputation for good food. Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

Capps Corner, however, is mainly served "family style". How many of you are there? It doesn't work very well for 2 people we found out, but is great for larger groups.
We ate at Mona Lisa twice and loved the food and the service.

North Beach Restaurant ... Washington Square Bar & GRill -- re-opened couple of years ago under new ownership, a very nice couple, who have kept the bar area looking the same as in it's heyday. I'll try to think of some others. I also like Moose's in that area, on the square, but it is not Italian.

Also in that area is XOXO truffle chocolates, run by a French guy. Amazing little truffles. Buy them by the dozen. I think they are across the square, up or down a bit from the Washington Sq Bar & Grill. L'Osteria is also a great Italian restaurant just off the square that is in a postage stamp size place, no reservations, very simple, casual place, but great food. Go early to avoid the line out the door.
